Trembling before thy loud acclaim
My eyelids close in hope to tame
Great rivers of bold applause

Can semblance of art from mortal flesh
Assume the pedestal shunning its situs
And not become hateful Bacchus?

I bend the knee, extend my hand
Silent now, you understand
Humility's affecting orris
