Promise

When mundane monotony threatens to expel
Inclination's hope bidding it farewell
May contentment quickly grow in each bosom's strain
No furrowed brow of discontent incite wary disdain

If euphoric inclination excites a weeping breast
To swell into the heights - bid emotions unsuppressed
Take a hold the anchor's chain and draw it link by link
Downward back into the earth - slipping through a chink

Of break within the atmosphere then smile through the rain
Upon a bow with seven hues - its raindrops all aflame
And grasp the promise firmly - whisper it as a chant
A mandate to the human heart the immutable Covenant
